The Man, The Legend, The Website!

Ralph Steadman is know for his bold, symbolic, and honestly insane style.  This insane style extends to even his website.  There are two navigation bars on the first page, one on the right and other on the bottom of the page.  The font may be a little messy, but you can read the words fine.  In terms of a hierarchy, there seems to not be any.  When you continue further into the site the navigation completely changes.  It transitions the the left and top, but this time it is in a simpler type.  The site always on the top of the page lets you know which section and sub-section you are on.

The site has a lot in it, which it appears to not have at first sight.  Each section has a whole bar of sub-sections.  The type within the section is very simple, bold for titles and regular for the body.  The entry titles could have a bit of a bigger font to make them pop out more though.  The main sections each have the same layout, but each is a different color.  The home page though is unique from these other pages.  The site is covered in pictures of his work, and this shows off a lot of his unique style of art.  The amount of pictures he has spread all over the site seems pretty fine, I mean he is a Graphic Designer after all!  There aren't any real icons or symbols in the site.

I found it interesting that the three page colors were red, green, blue (RGB).  It gave me a good giggle at first, but fits to the fact of him being a Graphic Artist.  Which ever color the page was given was the only one used mostly.  All of them have the tan background, with the chosen color in the main part of page.

The site has no defined single purpose, but many.  It lets you keep up to date with Steadmen's new works and projects, and also purchase merchandise of his.  The one thing this site may want to add is a search bar to make browsing easier.  I like the "What's New?" section a lot, as it is a good way to find something your looking for, or just go to find something cool.  The one thing I really dislike is that some pages are extremely long and I find myself getting lost some times.

Overall I love the site and the access to see Steadmen's amazing art and the ability to see some of his insight.  This site is defiantly a home run for fanboys and girls of Steadmen.  But for those who stumble upon him, or find this site from word of mouth, be prepared.  Steadmen is not afraid to say or illustrate his mind.  His site contains most of his material and some I would put a mature warning on.  That is another thing possibly that should be included is a mature warning.
